Kathy completed her undergraduate studies at Gonzaga University, earning her Bachelor of Arts. Before moving on to law school, Kathy served in AmeriCorps for two years, working with Gonzaga University and Spokane Public Schools. Kathy then completed her Juris Doctor at Gonzaga University School of Law, graduating from Magna Cum Laude with a Pro Bono Distinction award. Kathy was a Carl Maxey Scholar during her three years at Gonzaga University School of Law.
Kathy is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, the Vietnamese American Bar Association of Washington, and the Asian Bar Association of Washington. In 2022, the Asian Bar Association of Washington awarded Kathy the Yamashita Scholar Award, recognizing her public service and community outreach work in the Greater Northeast Spokane community.
